Walter A. "Butch" Trittin, 87 of Lidgerwood, ND passed away, Monday, September 5, 2011 at Manor Care Nursing Home, Fargo, ND. Funeral services will be Thursday, September 8, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Lidgerwood, ND with Pastor Douglas Wanderer officiating. Burial with military honors by the Lidgerwood American Legion Bullis Post #84 & the North Dakota National Guard will be at Immanuel Cemetery, rural Lidgerwood. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 7, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. all at the Frank Family Funeral Home, Lidgerwood, ND. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Pallbearers are: Jim Trittin, Paul Grohnke, Eric Trittin, Jeff Bartnick, Andrew Trittin & Jared Bartnick. Honorary pallbearers are “All His Family & Friends”.
Walter “Butch” A. Trittin was born on February 21, 1924 in rural Hankinson, ND to Ella (Marohl) and Albert Trittin. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Lidgerwood all of his life. Walter was baptized on March 30, 1924 by Rev. Julius Cloeter. After being instructed by Rev. Cloeter in Luther’s Small Catechism, he was confirmed on March 17, 1940. Walter grew up on the family farm with his 8 brothers and 5 sisters. He attended country school. As a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Walter served the Lord by holding many and various offices in the church. Walter served in the U.S. Army from 1945-1946 and was stationed at a base in Virginia. For most of his life, Walter lived in a trailer house on the family farm just south of Lidgerwood, ND. Walter loved farming and for 55 years (1938-1993) operated a custom combining business with his brother Harold. He also enjoyed fishing & playing cards. Upon retiring from farming, Walter moved to Dakota Estates Retirement Center in Lidgerwood.
Walter was a resident of Manorcare Health Services in Fargo, ND since the end of May 2011. Early on Monday morning, September 5, Walter, at the age of 87 years, was called by our Lord Jesus to his eternal rest in heaven.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents: Ella and Albert, five brothers: Arthur, Urban, Ruben, Lorenz, Frederick; three sisters: Laurina, Ethel, Elizabeth; and a brother-in-law, Richard Koets.
Walter is survived by three brothers, Harold Trittin, Gerhard Trittin, Ernst “Buddy” (Elaine) Trittin; two sisters, Grace (Andy) Anderson, Ella (Bernie) Rasinski; one brother-in-law, Bruce Lynn; three sisters-in-law, Patty Trittin, Joan Trittin and Barbara Trittin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
