Lawrence "Larry" Novotny, 52 of Lidgerwood, ND passed away Monday, June 1, 2009 at rural Claire City, SD. Funeral mass will be Friday, June 5, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Lidgerwood, ND with Fr. Robert Smith as celebrant. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Lidgerwood. Visitation will be Thursday, June 4, 2009 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. all at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Lidgerwood. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Pallbearers are: Sam Witt, Tony Kubasta, Cole Dolezal, Travis Dolezal, Curtis Novotny, Michael Novotny, Tim Broeren & Paul Leeman.
Lawrence "Larry" George Novotny was born June 14, 1956 in Breckenridge, MN, the son of George and Georgine (Vlasaty) Novotny. He attended first grade at Stiles Elementary School and finished his primary education at Lidgerwood Public School. Larry then attended NDSSS from 1974 to 1976 majoring in automotive technology. He was active in the Auto-Mech Club from 1975 to 1976. He received his Associates Degree with a G.P.A. of 4.0 in May of 1976. After college he worked for Smith Motors & Wolfe Ford, but outdoor work seemed to agree with him. He then worked 5 seasons with the North Dakota Highway Dept. on a survey crew and then 5 seasons for Fieldcrest Fertilizer as a shop mechanic/driver. He then worked for Bud’s Used Machinery for almost 15 years before his health started to fail.
Life is but a pleasant diversion until we join our loved ones who have gone before us.
Larry is survived by his father: George Novotny, Lidgerwood, mother: Georgine Novotny, Wahpeton, ND; two brothers: Roger & Douglas Novotny, both of Lidgerwood, ND; two sisters: Connie Leeman, West Fargo, ND and Bonnie Novotny, Lidgerwood, ND, two nices, three great nieces & one great nephew.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents: John & Mary Vlasaty and George & Anna Novotny; two uncles: Clarence Vlasaty and Ben (Virginia) Novotny and two aunts: Dorothy Vlasaty and Rose (Dale) Keitleboiter.
