Gerald Ahmann, 84, quietly passed away in his Roseville home, of 13 years, from pulmonary fibrosis on 7/2/10. His daughters were with him in his final days.
Jerry was one of 6 children that all grew up in the small ND town of Lidgerwood. He joined the Navy at 17 and served in WWII on the USS Heywood as a hospital corpsman in the Pacific. He contracted TB while in the Navy and was medically discharged. He went on to work as a letter carrier in Pasco, WA, had a long and successful career in the car business that took him down to the Bay Area, CA and was a tax preparer for many years prior to retiring.
Jerry lost his son, Mark, in 1997. He lost his wife, Arlene, of 54 years, in 2004.
He is survived by a brother and sister in ND, 3 children who live in CA, CO and ND, 7 grandchildren, 3 great-grandsons, and a grandchild due to arrive in December. He held a strong lifelong faith in God, loved the SF Giants, the 49’ers loved golf like there was no tomorrow.
Services will be held at his Lidgerwood hometown church, St Boniface on Monday, 7/12/10 at 10:30 a.m. with military graveside honors at Calvary Cemetery, Lidgerwood, ND.
